Jute and Garden Flower Pinwheel Butterfly

This is a super easy and cute craft using a Dollar Tree butterfly print flower garden pinwheel and a jute wrapped kid’s foam circular block. I am putting these butterflies up on the lattice inside of my porch on the Tiny Pink Cabin to start my fun Spring decor!

You will need:

2 garden pinwheels from Dollar Tree of butterfly print or any color you want. 2 pinwheels will make 3 butterflies.

1 foam building block 4 or 6 inches long for the body or anything that length and round in shape like a large dowel.

Jute rope

1 -12 inch pipe cleaner per butterfly

Googly eyes-tiny size

1 round wood bead about 1 inch round per butterfly for the head.

Hot glue sticks and glue gun

Steps:

1. remove 4 flower petals per butterfly from the garden flower pinwheel using a needle nose pliers- just pull

2.carefully cut off the metal wire on each petal using a wire cutters. Be careful, it is sharp!

3. Glue a wood bead of your color choice or wood stain choice to top of foam block with hole facing down.

4. Place a drop of hot glue at top of foam block just under the wood bead and hold the beginning of the jute rope on until it dries.

5. Begin wrapping the jute around the foam block or dowel, putting a bit of glue every 4 or 5 times you wrap around.

6. Wrap entire body in jute and glue at bottom. Cut just cord off.

7. place one on the petals/wing pieces at top back of jute body at an angle like a butterflies top wing and glue on back of body.

8. Repeat at top for other side of wing.

9. Glue a 3rd petal at an angle for bottom of right wing on back of jute body.

10. Repeat for other side.

11. Fold pipe cleaner in half.

12.Put glue in the top of the bead head and insert the folded pipe cleaner into the hole with fold inside bead.

13.Curl ends of pipe cleaner at end in a small circle to look like antenna.

14. Glue googly eyes on face of round bead.

15. on back of jute butterfly body, glue a small piece of jute for a hanger.

16. Hang on a seasonal tree, wreath or wherever you wish!
